James powditch biography

Among his achievements, Powditch was commissioned to create a mural for Sydney Airport in , won the prestigious Sulman Prize (Art Gallery NSW) in , followed by an Australian Council Grant to live in New York for one year ().

 He won nine prizes between alone.

In he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for his services to art. And in he was made an honorary fellow at The National Art School.

But it wasn’t a career that was ‘easy’. Powditch suffered great anxiety and obsessions when it came to making.
